Lord British

"Within this world live people with many different ideals, and this is good. Yet what is it within the people of our land that sorts out the good from the evil, the cherished form the disdained? Virtue, I say it is, and virtue is the logical outcome of a people who wish to live together in a bonded society."

-From book "Virtue", by Lord British

Lord British was the ruler and sole king of whole Britannia for over 300 years. Due the fact that he was from Earth, he has exceedingly long life spawn which explains duration he ruled.

Originally Sosaria was ruled by four different rulers, but corruption of Mondain the wizard brought ended this era at his fall. Sosaria was united as a one kingdom: Britannia. After securing his rule over now radically different looking land (shattering of the Gem of Immortality shaped the landmasses as they are today), he established the Virtues as the moral and philosophical backbone of the land. This is why he is often also known as the philosopher king.

During the later years he established the Order guard to uphold all that is Virtuous. This was disagreed by his friend, the man he had countless of philosophical debates, Lord Blackthorn. To protest his disagreement on military force, he established Chaos guard to encourage individual freedom and anarchy. These rival "knighthoods" are constantly known to test their skills in combat, however it is not something one can call war, just merely test of strength.

The rule was passed on to his most trusted men and women, when one day the king had to leave as mysteriously as he came to Sosaria. No one knows where he went, or why.
