Moonglow vs Spiritwood in Bagball! - |
We recived some news for you BagBall fans out thereGreetings Sports fans,
Last night saw the kick-off of the new Bagball league with the long awaited rematch between the Moonglow Mongbats and Spiritwood United. The town of Spiritwood was a buzz with anticipation when at the appointed hour the team from Moonglow finally arrived resplendent in their club colours of blue and white. After some difficulties finding their way to the field through a band of marauding hooligans, a few last minutes substitutes and the appointment of 8 year old Bob as an official Moonglow citizen-for –the-night, the whistle blew and the game was underway.
United came out strong and looked to dominate the match with their effortless teamwork when they easily scored in the opening minutes, but the Bats maintained their composure and fought back. Backwards and forwards the bag went as the fast opening pace soon slowed to a more evenly matched competition, and Spiritwood struggled to finally put another point on the board, as Moonglow was temporarily distracted by a streaker dashing across the field cheering the local team.
The Mongbats had found their form and the team from Spiritwood was not going to have the easy walkover they had first imagined. As half time approached, United had a point called back for a technicality and there was a bit of a misunderstanding regarding rules on substitutions when the Spiritwood team put a water elemental into their goal.
By the time the midpoint whistle had blown the mighty Mongbats gathered their energies and with some fancy footwork drew to within one point when they swept the bag past the unsuspecting Spiritwood defenders. The teams then switched sides and got themselves prepared for the second half. The crowd began to get restless. Soon the battle was joined once again, after yet another Spiritwood substitution following a player being knocked unconscious on the field. The Mongbats came out fighting and soon scored the equalizer.
Spiritwood United’s slick team work and fancy passing soon began to unravel as the team from Moonglow’s confidence grew in leaps and bounds. The local crowd groaned as the Bats pulled ahead with yet another score and finally put the match out of reach of Spiritwood United as the hourglass dripped down to the final whistle. It was a thrilling match, final score Spiritwood United 2 Moonglow Mongbats 4. I am sure the players from Spiritwood will be looking to patch up their bruised reputation, and that the Mighty Mongbats of Moonglow will be keen to build upon their record of success.
If you, your guild and or community have a team and would like to get involved in the noble sport of Bagball, go take a look at: http://run.to/bagball

Gathering of Folk No4: Sea Travel and Tavern Ramble - |
At Saturday night of the 19th we had our 4th Gathering of Folk, a guild event we do during weekends. This time unlike other times, we held it away from Dreamstone and went to Minoc to the famous tavern of The Barnacle, a place where miners, adventures and the like have an ale and rest.
Early in the morning the shipwrights launched The Passing Wind back into the small port of the town and prepared it for its journey. Many a crate was loaded, all waiting ready for the eve's excursion.
And so the day passed, noon as well and during eve we marched towards the ship. However... something went wrong and it could not budge. Dellan, the Merchant Lady summoned Air elementals and water ones to help with the situation but they could do nothing but stare at the sea. The sailing crew got confused, as they opened the sails and raised the anchor and still... till we noticed the tiller man was all sleeping safe and sound! After we woke him with a nice bucket of water and Pedro, our Blacksmith made some chairs we were ready to sail on. But before we begun already, hostile intentions where soon to be shown.
Soon though the differences stopped when I, Gerrick became captain and started commanding the ship and trying to exit the Bay of Merchants ( small bay of Yew ) . All fastened their sail belts...but technical difficulties lead to the ship hitting land all the time. Fortunately, Dellan offered kindly to command the boat and I took the chance to sit upon the majestic throne and looking the sea ( after I told the tiller man to correct any mistakes she does).
We were sailing nice and good, met many a sea creature even a dolphin was attracted by the calm sound of the lute. However we did notice another small boat with faction members, we were just lucky the planks where locked. Sometime during the trip we stopped to check the supplies, take a deep breath and then head onwards. We even casted some nets and tried to fish but had no success( I suspect the local fisherman sabotaged our equipment). We headed onwards for the Lost Hope Bay.
After a while, we finally reached the town of Minoc where we landed...and asked of the shipwrights to dry-dock the ship. Quickly and hurrying up, we made our way to the tavern and the tasty Minoc bread loafs. Dellan, saw some merchants in need of escort and with no hesitation ( for the money) leaded them to their location through a magic portal. We all then entered The Barnacle, sat nice and comfy at the benches and Pedro did us a favor and ordered our meal, cakes, lamb legs, bowls of corn and the famous shrimps and fish of Minoc. Seeing our merry gathering, other folk from the tavern joined us too which made the tavern keeper quite happy herself to pay all our expenses!
After this tiring but filled with happiness and joy day, we gathered all round to shout the name of the most bizarre event, Sosaria has ever seen....Gathering of Folk No4!

The Third Gathering of Folk - |
We recived this from The Yew Mercantile League people:On Wednesday 2nd of January, we have had held The Third Gathering of Folk, a guild event which is ment to bring the members of The Yew Mercantile League all together and exchange stories from our daily lives and come up with a jest or frolic to do. Usually this is held at weekends, but this time it was an exception. The last one, the first was held a long time back and this event helped sping back our charter : " Friendship, Trust and Recreation through Trade".
Members who presented themselves were Hal, Gnome Forester and an especially devious trickster, then was Decker, citizen from Yew but quite educated in the fine arts and also Daelin Proudmoor, Mercenary Archer who has lended his bow quite some time when there was trouble around The Hall
The Gathering begun with the group of friends sitting upon the chairs of the roof and talking of a variety of subjects...until Decker saw a shadow down below and heard of a noise. The companions went downstairs to check, and Daelin took advantage of the situation...he dressed himself as a spectre with a brown robe. Surely he did achieve his goal, as it is shown in the picture on the right. Decker hid under the bed while Hal was "busy" checking behind The Guildstone. The "shade" demanded food and coins, which both of them gave quite eagerly. However Decker had an accident and laid unconcious for a while...When he managed to recover, Decker and Hal did suspect Daelin for this mischief which led to even more bizzare things that would be quite confusing if all where mentioned. Gold appeared from places it never had been and Daelin was eating some bread which Hal had given to the "spectre"...
Even more odd things begun when Decker became quite mad because his gold was missing. He took out a staff which he said he found in Moonglow that cursed people with quite strange consequences. For a moment Hal believed him and started showing some of the symptoms which where....hicups!
In the end however, things settled down and the Gathering ended with the folk going downstairs to have some fresh air after the night ended and prepared for a rather rich breakfast. Before they begun eating, they shouted out loud the name of the event, which surely a more bizzare one Sosaria has never seen....
