How to setup IRC?
First naturally install mIRC client, that you can get from it's official site at
http://www.mirc.co.uk/. Do not trust unofficial sites unless you know
they are trustworthy.
Click the welcome screen and you should see something about like on picture bellow:
Full Name and email is probably wise to keep as "X" or such if you wish privacy, as anyone at IRC can see what written there.
Nickname is the name that will be your name in IRC.
Now how to add server, which in this case is Stratics server. Click add button at upper right. and you should see
following menu:
Description: This can read anything you want
IRC server: This is where you enter irc server address (address listed bellow).
Port(s): No need to touch this
Group: Leave empty
Password: Leave empty
Here is Stratics server stats you should add (there is few in case one is not working), you need to add each induvidually.
irc.stratics.com
frws.stratics.com
intworks.stratics.com
dhp.stratics.com
Now you can hit the Connect to Irc server button when you have one of the servers you have setup selected.
You will get a lot of text, do not worry, it is normal. Finally it will stop and channel list will popup. Just
add the channel you wish to join, select it and Join.
Few important security rules, never accept DCC Chat or files send to you by stranger. They may contain harmful virus.
Alright, now your ready to use mIRC.
