Chapter II: Spreading the word

Lost in his thoughts, and gazing out into the forest, Alexandra suddenly noticed two men nearby him. He turned around, one was a known friend, Palmer, the other someone he did not recognise, but the man had a friendly face. The unknown man and Palmer had greeted him and he had not really noticed, but he left his thoughts in the forest and turned to talk to them. The fellow he did not know, was a chap called Bors. They both looked a little uncomfortable, and Alexandra guessed they were hear to try and get some information about what had transpired with Tara in order to help.

He took them through the what he knew, which was not a lot. They could tell going over all of it again was painful, but they knew as did he, that it was necessary. Bors expressed great interest in the signed name at the bottom of the note that had been left at Alexandra's house. He had read somewhere about a being of immense power called the Guardian. Alex had read the note as meaning to be that Tara now had a new guardian, as in someone to take care of her, though he was not at all happy about what form that so-called care might take. Palmer listened to Bors and Alexandra carefully. Alexandra was fairly certain that it must be someone who lived close to Deepwater or at least within the Yew area, given the berry juice that had been used on the note as ink. The idea that it might be someone that they all knew, was of course worrying to them all. Palmer suggested that maybe a chat with Tomf was in order, since he was a known troublemaker.

Whilst they discussed all this Cyndon Lyonsnake and Burrator both appeared and they took an immediate interest in the discussion. Cyndon was quite taken aback that such a think could take place within the community of Deepwater, and as the others had done, he extracted as many details from Alexandra as possible.

Whilst they talked night had fallen, and it was getting late. Alexandra was tired from a long day of worry and searching, and needed to get some sleep. Cyndon wanted to see the note first hand in order to see what was written himself. Alexandra took him back to his house and showed it to him before they bade each other good night.

As Alexandra lay on his bed trying to sleep he was wracked with worry, but he found some comfort in knowing that he had friends within Deepwater that he knew he could trust to help him find Tara.
