Alexandra was getting more upset and impatient as the days went by
and he heard nothing. He decided it was time to gather a larger
search party since a smaller party had not lead to finding any
clues what so ever. He headed down to the Owl's Eye and enlisted
the help of those people who were there Videric, Muriell, Yoldran,
Drussix, Jearom, Cyndon Lyonsnake, Bor and Azrael.
Videric was caught somewhat unprepared by this, but was keen to join
in so, Alexandra agreed that they would wait whilst he fetched his
sword and other items. When the merchant came back, they all set off.
They started heading south, and as they went through the Ork campsite
just south of the Owl's Eye, Bor discovered an item partly hidden by
the dirt and grime in the area. It was a diary! Bor handed the book to
Alexandra, it contents were worrying. As the book was very worn,
only few words and sentances could be read from it:
"Yew farmers...and they searched for the boy...
...found my trail...
burn the witch they yelled, let the follower of evil die..
*many pages missing in between*
They do not see the way...
bones everywhere, walking death...
Deepwater"
Alexandra did not notice it immediately, but as he looked at the
writing a second time, there was something that made him feel
uncomfortable about the text. Then it hit him! The writing was the
same as that on the note which had been left at his home. There
was no mention of anything that could be linked with Tara, but
there were some garbled passages about a lost boy near Yew. This
worried Alexandra greatly. Everyone looked at the book carefully,
before that decided to proceed to the Yew Cemetary on the basis
of the mention of bones.
At this point Burrator joined the party, which was to proove fortunate.
The party slowly made it way towards Yew, as they came closer to Yew,
several things occured. First of all, Burrator made a startling discovery.
He had found a jester's hat, and it was orange. Tara had one just like,
as Alexandra examined it, he knew it was hers. How had he missed it on
previous searches? He was sure he had come this way before. Burrator
had stopped a moment to fasten up his right boot, and he had seen it out
of the corner of his eye inside a hollow in a tree. What a stroke of luck!
As they continued on their way to Yew, the companions met two people, one
was young fighter, Melissa and the other was a fellow called Quinlan
that some of the companions knew. The poor fellow had been knoecked out cold
by bandits, and left for dead. Quinlan had found a healer who had helped him,
but he now needed to find his possesions. The companions set off with him.
Eventually they found some of Quinlan's things, but most of them had been
taken. At this point they continued on their way to the Yew cemetary, when
they got there though, there was nothing at all of interest or help. Alexandra
was disappointed at this, but he decided they should go and see the Guardsmen
Militia at their old headquarters. This was a dangerous undertaking to do,
since relations between the Guardsmen and Deepwater were at an all time
low. There was little tolerance on each side to one another. Alexandra
hoped he could appeal to their humanity in his search for his sister.
When they reached the building, Alexandra went in to find there were only
two guards there. One of them spoke to Alexandra, he seemed a little
worried about the number of people outside the building, but despite
his suspicions that Alexandra's friends might have hostile attempts,
he prooved to be a polite and kind fellow and helped Alexandra as much
as he could. Alexandra showed him the diary and enquired about the
burning, did the guard remember anything? The guard said he did not,
but that he could message one of his superiors too if need be.
Alexandra declined and said he would head up the new Headquarters himself
in order to talk with a magistrate if possible.
The companions went through Yew at a fair pace, and reached Militia's new
Headquarters building. It was a fine looking place, but as they discovered,
it was empty. There was but one soul in it, a prisoner in a prison, who was
silent. Alexandra had no further ideas about what to do, so he told his
companions that todays search had finished. He would have to contact
the Militia at some point and see what had happened...
