Tome Fragment: Spirituality
Wandering amidst the reveries of self
It seeks to know the mysteries
Of self, of other,
Of what power drives the sun
What hand hangs the slivered moon
What lover’s longing chains the tides
Close your eyes
See what cannot be seen
Feel what can only be felt
In the hollows of your seeking heart
You have all the answers
Once you understand
That the only questions worth the asking
Can not be proven
By sword, or plowshare, or water
And their solemn reality
Lies just beyond the edge of your dreams.
(scrawled beneath it in an uneven hand)
Curse the ones who find this book! Curse all mankind!
I am the dark power that drives the rats forth into the world.
Rats shall you seek when the stars are right.
If honor you would find.
But honor alone will not be enough!
Fools!
Cowards!
You will never have that which you seek.
There is no more honor in the world,
only falsehood and deceit.
Only the hand of he to whom honor is a banner may ask for Honor’s part.
Despair!
Cry the Dogs of War...
Call them forth to show honor’s part.
When jupiter aligns with the two moons,
Then only may you seek among rats…
