It was a puzzling afternoon in Deepwater. Viking had just come from his
office and entered the tavern. He looked around for an empty chair, and found most of the tavern deserted.
The captain called for a waitress, and soon she came. "One ale please, and make it fast"
She replies: "Sorry sire, we have no ale today, no alcohol for that matter."
He quickly waved her away, left his chair, and went upstairs. It is there were he found the hidden key for the kitchen,
and uses it on the door. As he searched the kitchen, he found what he was looking for; Fauna's "secret" supply of
alcohol. He took few bottles and pitchers, and walked downstairs once again, and began to drink. And not just
drink, but really DRINK.
From sober to drunk didn't take long, as he hadn't had a single drink for around a year. Nearly all the time he
had been the Captain.
After he had swallowed the first few sips of the first bottle of alcohol, his mind began wandering.
Why was he drinking ? What really made him to drink ? Why had he actually gone so far as to resign
from being the Captain, and letting Strangler take over ?
After what seemed to him as a short time, was probably hours, and the alcohol beginning to knock on his front door.
Beorn, one of his guards enter the tavern, together with Videric. At the same time they yell out:
"Greetings Captain".
He grumbled and replied drunkenly: "I am no longer Captain, can ye see a uniform on me ?! No... well"
He quickly forgot what he had been thinking about. And started asking Beorn and Videric to join him. They both agreed
after some convincing.
A short while after Seer Aymer visited the tavern, but he did not stay long. "He probably couldn't handle the rate
we where going", Viking thought to himself.
The evening progressed, and time went by quickly. Eventually the alcohol from Fauna's stores ran out. Beorn who
still was somewhat sober went to get some more from a city. And even thought he brought plenty, it quickly vanished
into their stomach. After this they decided to go look at the Tower Mall for some more, but to no avail. Not a single
drop of alcohol seemed to remain in Deepwater. This was the point when Videric decided to leave and go to sleep.
Viking and Beorn did not stop however, and as lightning from a blue sky, they bumped into a pirate. This pirate,
for no apparent reason, promised them all the ale they could possibly drink. Being drunk and all, they agreed to
follow the pirate who led them to his boat, by promising that there was rivers of ale onboard. The pirate took
them sailing.... and sailing.... and sailing, but no ale... The only thing they got out of the sailing, was to
get their stomachs emptied into the water around the ship. Finally, he let them off. This was the point where Beorn
decided to head home.
Viking returned to the Guards Office, for one last look. He sat down in the comfty chair that was no longer his.
Again his mind started drifting back to the cause of all this. John's death, which he felt responsible for.
They had ventured to the Orc Fort alone. How was he to know that, there would be orcish mages powerful enough to
slay one of them... And why didn't he stop the mage, heal John... DO SOMETHING !
But, that wasn't it, that alone couldn't have caused this. But there was also the recent attack... a meeting Frabagor,
the orc Diplomat, had had with the Terathens. Viking had gathered a few guards. Himself, Cyan and a Novice, who really
wasn't a guard yet. And of course a few townsfolk. They departed to the Terathen Fort, but on arrival, no orcs where seen.
Not a single one. But a lot of those nasty Terathen, Viking and Cyan was the first to enter this place, through one of
those magical gates. They retreated, to let the rest of the party go through the gate unharmed, drawing the Terathen
with him and his guards. But as luck would have it, they where surrounded. Side by side, they where all knocked unconscious.
At this time, a thief must have gone thought the Terathen unnoticed, And rob both Viking and Cyan. After getting on
their feet again, Viking realised that he had been robbed. All his arrows where gone, his armour, shield and sword
was also gone. At this time the rest of the party had beaten the Terathen back and were ready to continue towards
the orc meeting place, urging Viking and Cyan to follow them.
Why did they do this ? They could obviously see that Viking and Cyan were unarmed, and not wearing armour ?!
But without pause they vanished into the fortress, and left behind the Guards who were virtually helpless. Only with
the help of a wandering magician where they able to return home.
Abon arrival, they went each on their own way to get some new armour and weapons. But as luck would have it, Viking
was stopped and asked why he wasn't helping. He explained what had happened... Or atleast he tried to explain it,
but they didn't listen to him. And only told him that he should go help right away. Again he wondered: Why did they
ask this of him ? Still they could see large wounds, and of course that he was still unarmed and wearing no armour ?!
With that blaming feeling... "I am no good... Why aren't I helping ? Where is my weapon ? Where is my armour ?".
And failing to find much of anything. Probably most due to being as upset upon this time, he threw his cloak and
sash into the trash can, and touched the guildstone for a final time, making Strangler the Captain.
