Dardan Brook

The sun had already risen when Dardan woke up in his little hut. He put on his clothes and walked out on the stairs. The morning mist was about to lift from the woods but he could still feel the humidity in the air.

"I wonder..."
He scratched his beard thoughtfully and looked at the little chest inside the door. Inside it there were a staff, carefully sealed with spells to bind and weaken its powers.

"I hope ye will not be angry with me, my sweet..."
He stood calm and quiet, stretching out his senses and grasping on what little source of power he could find. His mind was calm and concentrated when he reached out with his magical ability and began releasing the locks that bound the powers of the staff. When he touched it he could feel the staff immediately trying to fill itself with the powers that he had gathered. He fought against the constant urge to let go and open his barriers, because he knew that it would render his mind defenceless against the constant probing from the staff. The staff vibrated in his hand when he walked out, very slowly, to the lawn outside his hut.

"I command thee, staff. Ye, are within my powers." He closed his eyes and concentrated on a rune he had in his pouch. When he released the energy from the simple spell that would allow him to transport to the place bound by the rune he could feel the staff quickly consuming all of it, leaving him standing confused and a little surprised. Dardan broke out into a smile.

"I see, ye are nay going to let me perform me magics?" He chuckled softly, then he pounded the staff into the ground seven times with a rhythmic beat, then he sealed the staff off from the energies that it was consuming.

"I am still in control, staff. Whatever yer master might call ye I still have some tricks up my sleeve."
Once again he concentrated on the rune and transported himself.
