Come back to Britannia! -Videric

Last week we sent out an email to many of our former account holders,
inviting them to come back and experience Ultima Online again and see all the changes for themselves. The email linked to a secure webpage at my.uo.com, which is our official domain.

Since then, we've seen some hesitation from players who are concerned about entering their game password on this page, since we've said many times not to respond to emails or communications that ask for your password.

A little extra caution is always a good thing, so we're happy to see people keeping on their toes about account security - but this is our official site, so there's no need to worry! The "s" after the http in the address denotes that it's a secure site, and the domain (my.uo.com) is ours; you can verify that by clicking on the "MyUO" link on the main site navigation and verifying that it's the same domain, spelled the same way.

It's a good idea to make sure you're on the correct page before entering your password; don't blindly trust that a page that simply looks like the official page is the real thing. But if it's on our domain, you can trust that it's from us, and know that your information is secure.

So if you're someone who has had an account in the past and you haven't taken advantage of this offer to get the LBR UO client, or if you were hesitant before and weren't sure whether or not this offer was the real thing, head over to https://my.uo.com/recapture
to see what it's all about!

    Holiday Home Decoration Contest -Videric

    From FYI:

It's that time of year again! Homeowners all over Britannia are preparing their piles of cotton, stacks of cloth, gold and reagents in anticipation of turning their everyday homes into glittering holiday masterpieces.

If you're someone who fancies him- or herself an interior designer
extraordinaire, why not show off your skills by entering the Britannian Holiday Home Decoration Contest?

Part 1: Submitting House Design Tips

Entering is easy! Just send us your best three house decorating tips, along with a screenshot of a house or establishment that you've decorated in UO. In your tips, you can talk about anything from dye colors and which ones go best with various house types, to step-by-step instructions on how to make fireplaces or other home décor items. Out of all the submissions we receive, we'll select 10 finalists who have submitted the most unique, interesting, and well-written tips and whose screenshots show the greatest amount of
creativity. At least 1 tip from each finalist will be featured later in the UO Playguide in a new section entitled "Decorating your Homes: Tips from the Players."

      Part 2: Decorating a House

Here's where it gets really interesting for those 10 finalists! On
Wednesday, December 11th, we will temporarily transfer ownership of a
pre-placed single-room house to each finalist on a specially designated test shard (this will not affect any other houses owned by the finalists on regular non-Test Center shards). Finalists will be given one week to decorate that house in the holiday spirit, using any items they can obtain or craft legally on that test shard. Moongates will be placed to allow finalists, judges, and any other players to tour the homes that are being decorated throughout the week.

Houses will be judged on Wednesday, December 18th, beginning at 10 AM CST, by members of our dev team. We will be looking for creativity, ingenuity, originality, and a festive holiday spirit. An in-game award ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 19th to announce the winner (winner does not have to be present to win). Screenshots of all 10 decorated homes will be featured on UO.com. Please note that ownership of these houses is temporary - we can make no promises as to how long these homes will remain intact on the test center beyond December 19th!

      PRIZES

      * All 10 finalists will get an in-game participation certificate (a blessed, uniquely-colored, uniquely-labeled deed) on the shard of their choice.

      * 2nd place will get the participation certificate and a blessed, uniquely labeled apron on the shard of their choice.

      * 1st place will get the participation certificate, the blessed,
uniquely labeled apron, and a blessed, uniquely-labeled, uniquely-colored painting on the shard of their choice.

      The Guidelines

Part 1: Submitting House Design Tips

      * You must be a current UO subscriber, in good standing, and include your account name with your submission (one submission is three tips). Only one submission will be evaluated per account. If more than one is sent in on the same account, we'll accept the first we read, and all others will be disregarded.

      * Make sure your tips are 50 words or less, and please pay attention to spelling and punctuation!

      * Screenshots should be submitted in .jpg form at a minimum of 640 x 480 resolution. You may send us .zip files, but please, no zip executable files. Any .exe files will be deleted.

      * Screenshots must be created with items found in Ultima Online.
      Doctored images will be disqualified.

      Part 2: Decorating a House

      * We will contact each of the 10 finalists by email on December 11th and make arrangements to transfer ownership of the small house on the Test Center. These emails will come from Sannio@uo.com. Non-finalists will not be notified.

      * The week of decorating time begins on December 11th and ends on December 18th. Players will not be given extra time if they do not respond quickly to the notification email.

      * Holiday themes only! As we are aware that not everyone celebrates the same holidays, all we ask is that the décor of the house focus on a holiday celebrated at this time of year (as opposed to a spring, summer, or autumn festival).

      * Finalists can use anything available to them legally on the test shard to decorate their houses. Any use of exploits will result in disqualification.

Submissions are due by 11:59 PM, December 10th (US CST). Please email your screenshot as an attached file to uo-profiles@uo.com
. Please include a real name, UO account name(but not your password!), email address, and phone number for verification purposes. All submissions become the property of OSI, and may be used for special events, promotions, and/or advertising. All submissions must be made by the original author and are subject to verification. We reserve the right to edit and/or modify any tips for publication. Good luck to everyone and have a great Holiday Season in Britannia!
