About new look -Videric

Please give the site time to load on the first time you access it, all will be stored in cache and it will load a lot faster next time.

Some of you have had trouble with hard to read text and I presume that people have not waited for background to finish loading.

This is a small picture how the site is supposed to look, if you have still trouble, let me know and tell what browser and version you are using.

Welcome to new looking Tales of a Traveller, hopefully you like the new layout. With layout change there was few new things added.

  • Files section has new exciting sound files.
  • Timeline was rebuild and should be a lot better at Lore section
  • Some small fixes around the site

Because of re-building there might be dead links. If you find a link that does not work, please drop an email to me. Also feel free to email me or write to the board about your feelings of new layout.

    The Third Dawn graphics -Videric

    About Third Dawn graphics:

One of our greatest technical challenges for Third Dawn was the requirement to be fully interoperable with the 2D client. This meant using the same isometric viewpoint. The upside to the isometric viewpoint is that it allows very good situational awareness, particularly in dynamic areas. The downside is that it prevented us from using some of the techniques for reducing polygon count and texture memory that first-person games use as standard. (i.e. MIP-mapping and mesh levels of detail.) As a result, texture and meshes in Third Dawn are usually not as high a resolution as the "LOD0" (Nearest Level of Detail) for a first-person game.

  • Preview of new wearables & Patch 62 -Videric

Someone posted few pictures of Art hidden on UO3d CD.

  • UOboards post

(Note: To all you who wish to edit UO 3rd Dawn remember what Tajima said about it:

"One thing to keep in mind while you're renaming these files is to ensure you're making backups of the original. If we go on to patch those files in the future the patch will fail due to an invalid byte count." )

Also Tajima commented following about the coming patch v62 of UO3d:

If testing goes well version 62 should be posted by the end of the week.

It will have some new and improved art, as well as some crash bug and memory leak fixes.

I am sure I am not the only one who wishes hooded robes for people...

    About Server Hardware upgrade -Videric

    About the European hardware upgrade:

Lag - this can to some degree be helped by new server hardware. We have the hardware over in Europe now, and we are waiting on some confirmation on certain technical items before we install them. We expect two or three weeks from now before they are installed, and then we need to copy over information to them and make sure they are stable. This is unless something unexpected comes up to delay it. We also continue to monitor the network itself over there to see if there is anything we could do to help the situation.

    80's strike back! -Videric

Brings back memories, doesn't it? If you say it doesn't, your simply lying or too young. And if your female, just replace He-man with She-ra *grins*

This program was aimed for children, and had simple storylines. I just wonder why UO fiction makers cannot always make more complicated/intelligent stories even if the audience is supposedly adults?

Yes, the new web fiction has been good, but it always good to look at the past and see what horrids hide there....

    New titles? New Mysteries? -Videric

In the lands of Ishlenar someone noted about strange titles on him... Melantus commented following:

This is true and not a rumor. This has something to do with that "mystery" of Ilshenar that I talked about a few weeks ago, but theres much more to it. That's all I'll say about this for now. :)

    And

I'll be honest with you however and let you know that part of this is still incomplete. You can however achieve the same results as the original thread started, however part of this that is incomplete would help you to better define exactly where to go. In other words, it can still happen but it would be nice to get this other part in. then it all would be a bit clearer and you no doubt wouldn't need as many hints to figure it out. We should have the rest if it in real soon. There were a couple of problems however we needed to take care of.

    Mini-Quest -Videric

    About mini quest hinted earlier:

Actually (and you are going to kick me for this) but part of that system is not functioning properly. We didn't know until we took a close look the other day. It's not a part that would affect the overall way it functions, but it is a way that would clue players in that "something" was happening. We will get it all straightened out. Sorry if this is causing more stress then it should :)

    Comments from Calandryll -Videric

Calandryll comments about his plan. However too early to tell what really means, the update does not go to any kind of details. So it remines to be seen does this plan include volunteers at all.

    Ultima plot and stuff -Videric

Sage comments about future things to come in Ultima plot.

  • Comments from Sage

It's been rather slow and quiet after the massive layoffs and for a reason or another. Hopefully there will be something new coming in Third Dawn client soon, and that UO would get veteran rewards and those nice floor tiles soon.
