Lady Nyte Doombringer send me the following:
Axl was but a simple warrior the day he was born in the town of Trinsic on the Chessy shard. He started out much the same way as everyone else does, as a newbee. He picked his starting skills, what his character features would be, his name and his starting place. Then he logged into the world of Britannia. He started to explore the vast land filled with destitute and danger as well as beautiful and serene places that one could never imagine could exist. As he traveled on his journey he kept a journal of his adventures in this new world he had found. He kept it mainly for himself so that he could look back from time to time and recount where he had been and who he had meet along the way. As the weeks went by he grew stronger. He ventured further and further out. He meet many new people along the way. He soon had enough companions to start his own guild. Together they traveled the lands of Chessy.
As time passed so did things change. New lands where discovered. Lands of his native Viking people. Axl knew that he must travel to these lands to be with his people. He made the hard decision to leave the familiar lands that he knew and loved and make the long journey to the lands of Europa. Deep inside he knew this is what he had to do. Many of his guild would also follow him into the new lands as well.So he started all over in these new lands but this time he brought with him a vast knowledge of what to do and how to do it. The land was new and untouched. This left a world of opportunity. So he started out once again to make his way as a warrior. This time though it was different. (I say it was fate.)
As the months went by, Axl was becoming known throughout the land. The great Viking Nation was watching him. Finally, their leader Mondane approached Axl with a proposition that would change his life; to become Viking King of the whole Nation. This was his legacy. This is what brought him to the new land of Europa. As you read this story, you to will be taken back to this time.
The first part of the Chronicles of the Doombringer family are finally up. There are about 110 pages with over 1100 screenshots. I hope you will find this story as facinating as I did.

MGON has article about the new hero of Britannia, Dawn.
When designing the character of Dawn, we really wanted to create someone that the players would be drawn to. Mostly, we wanted Dawn to be a contrast to the dark and edgy look and personality of Lord Blackthorn. Creating a new character, virtually from scratch, is no easy task, however. It was important to us that Dawn not be of noble birth, but rather have an air of leadership about her... something we hope the comic book will demonstrate. We wanted her to represent "the people," and earn any titles she may receive rather than be born or created with them.
It was also essential to tie Dawn closely to the virtues in a fictionally sound manner, something else the comic book will reveal. Another aspect of the character we wanted to portray clearly is that she isn't perfect. All too often in fantasy fiction, the main character is someone who is virtually flawless, as the writer worries that mistakes or poor choices will tarnish the character's "good-guy" image. When deciding how we would use Dawn, both in the comic and in the game, we wanted to be sure that we portrayed her as a real person, with all of the faults and flaws that make us human. Dawn is being thrust into a role that she not only doesn't want, but will also resist.
Where Dawn grows from here will largely depend on how she is received by the players. We have no definite plans for her at the moment because we really want her to evolve just like a real person, rather than through some forced scripted story. But before she can travel through the land of Britannia, she needs to start somewhere and the McFarlane comic presents the reader with a captivating tale as the "dawn of virtue" begins in Ultima Online!

Dawn seems to have changed her looks at the UOLBR.com to more revealing outfit. However the model does look promising when we are waiting for the new compleatly redone UO3d models.

 | The Ultima Music Collection -Melissa | |
Stumbled on a fantastic web site today. Some very talented person has gone through the trouble of encoding Roland MT-32 music from the Ultima games as high-quality mp3's, and I must say that they are by far the best versions of Ultima music I have ever heard. Truly wonderful, and well worth listening to.

About when the new UO3d Avatars and MIP mapping are to come:
We plan on having these completed and integrated by the time LBR hits the shelves.

So we have to wait until January-March 2002 at least. Better well done than rushed. UOboards post
UPDATE:
As Desertfox pointed out, the avatar graphics and wearables are being completely redesigned, and are MUCH better looking than the current ones.

As you know, all houses have been auto-refreshed for several weeks. OSI's own Prophet mentioned recently that we are likely to reinstitute a limited form of housing decay, but only for those houses that are listed as Condemned. This would likely occur before any other housing decay resolution (such as the method "ownerless housing" transfer concept described here), and there is a small chance it may occur around the onset of the new year, or perhaps even just barely before that time. The plan is not to turn off auto-refresh for all houses, but to take a small-yet-significant step in returning to a healthier housing situation by allowing Condemned houses to decay over time as was standard in UO until mid-September. Houses that are not Condemned will continue to be auto-refreshed.
When a more comprehensive housing resolution is put forth into the game, well, we don't want anyone to think that we intend to simply flip a switch and destroy several hundred houses at the same time the ball drops in New York City at midnight at the onset of the new year. That is not going to happen. We want a far smoother transition than that, for those houses, or housing locations, that will be changing hands. If/when any changes occur to housing beyond allowing Condemned houses to decay, we will give as much advanced notice and details as possible.

 | UO:LBR, 2d will not have new wearable art -Videric | |
Probably to many 2D users dissapointment, Jonathan "Calandryll" Hanna clarified that UO2d will not have any new wearable art in the coming expansion:
UO:LBR will not have any new 2d wearable art in it. All of the uo3d wearable art already has 2d placeholders so we can use it with little problem when we are ready to put them in a scenario.
and
Broken promise? We never said we were adding new wearable art to the 2d client. Adding new wearable art to the 2d client is far more time consuming than adding it to the 3d client. While we will absolutely continue to support both clients, some limitations with the 2d client will always exist.
and
I never say completely impossible, and not being a client programmer I can't tell you the technical limiations of it, but it's highly unlikely. There are no plans right now to have downloadable 2d wearable/monster art. Even if we did, the download sizes, even for wearables would be quite large because they'd have to be rendered in each direction and every action that a character can do. That's a limitation of a 2d client.
